What is the Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS)?
The role of the TPMS is to warn you that at least one of the tires of your Porsche is under-inflated or over-inflated. In most vehicles, the TPMS light is located on the dashboard in the shape of a tire cross-section followed by an exclamation mark. The importance of tire pressure has led many vehicle manufacturers to make TPMS a common feature in their vehicles. There are two kinds of TPMS, direct and indirect. Indirect TPMS the actual inflated pressure of the tire is shown, whereas in indirect TMPS the air pressure is calculated based on data from the ABS (Anti-Locking Braking System) sensor.
Why is TPMS service important?
Our certified technicians are familiar with the latest technology in an automobile, including TPMS. The reason why TPMS is beneficial is because of the importance of tire inflated pressure, which plays a key role in the safety and performance of the vehicle. With properly inflated air pressure, the tires will be able to last longer by wearing evenly and provide better fuel economy. Low air pressure can also lead to uncomfortable to a bumpy ride. Most vehicle owners are concerned with under-inflation, but over-inflation can also cause problems such as tire burst, which can be extremely dangerous.
